Course Description / Pre-Ride / Directions:
The Lake Fayetteville Trail is a race for all abilities. This very fast course is primarily single track with minimal climbing yet plenty of room for passing. There is one paved section that will be used to complete the 6 mile loop. This is a very well established trail used often by local riders. Pre-riding the course is highly recommended as the advantage goes to the locals that ride, train, and maintain, this awesome loop day-in and day-out. There are nuances at the dam crossing and a few other areas that you'll definitely want to familiarize yourself with. The course will run CLOCKWISE. PRE-RIDE . . . The course is open everyday and can be pre-ridden any time during normal daylight hours. COURSE IS OFF LIMITS AFTER DARK. The course is open to runners, walkers, and fisherman. Be careful and announce your presence when riding up on blind corners - Holler "bicycle" or something, so you don't blind-side anyone.
DIRECTIONS . . . From the North or South of Fayetteville, take I540 to the Johnson, AR exit - number 69. It's a tiny little town just between Springdale and Fayetteville. Go East toward Inn at the Mill on Johnson Rd. and drive about 4 miles to the intersection of HWY 71 and Johnson Rd. DON'T SPEED OR YOU'LL GO HOME W/ A TICKET. Go left / North at the intersection for about 200 yards and take the first right at Lake Fayetteville Rd. This loops up around a golf driving range and over to the ball fields. Parking is in the ball field parking area and the course is accessed by the dam gate.
Coming in from the east or west on 412, simply go south out of Springdale on 71 and turn left just prior to the Johnson Rd. intersection. If you get into Fayetteville (by the Mall), you've gone too far. Turn around.
